This tour has been postponed as a safety measure to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Located around 15 minutes on foot from Asahikawa Station, the 7-jo Ryokudo Area of Asahikawa City is a friendly neighborhood that features a cafe, a bookshop, a gallery, and other small shops that are full of personality. The shop owners here have formed an association called Sanwa/Ryokudo Shotenkai. This guided walking tour lets you explore the shops, meet the shop owners, join a workshop, and enjoy a delicious meal.
Every shop you will visit is unique, and you can explore them together with a guide/editor from northern style SLOW, a lifestyle magazine that has featured the area in its pages. Experience making your own mini-sacoche bag at Michi-hito, visit an artisan cheesemaker (and get a souvenir) at Japacheese Asahikawa, see the books in the colorful Kodomo Fukido bookshop, admire the artworks in Gallery PuruPuru, and enjoy a meal at Harunire Cafe.
The sacoche bag you will make at Michi-hito is a small but versatile shoulder pouch. You can choose from three different colors: mustard yellow, red, and khaki green.
The walking tour includes free time, so you can explore any shop you find interesting. The shop owners in the Ryokudo Area are all very friendly, and they will gladly share information about the other shops or the local neighborhood.
So come and join this walking tour to experience the warm atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly smiles at the Asahikawa 7-jo Ryokudo Area!
