This tour lets you experience the winter at Nukabira Gensenkyo, a hot spring district in Kamishihoro Town. You’ll go on a snowshoe hiking tour in Lake Nukabira to see the famous Taushubetsu River Bridge, a concrete arch bridge that once part of a railway line. You’ll then go to a quiet log cabin called Mitsumata Sanso where you can re-energize yourself with a delicious lunch. Afterwards, you’ll visit Nakamuraya, a famous lodge in Nukabira Gensenkyo where you can take a relaxing warm bath in the hot springs, or try your hand at making unique handicrafts. Before ending the tour, you can stop by Pia 21 Shihoro Roadside Station to buy snacks or souvenirs.
The Taushubetsu River Bridge is a 130-meter long concrete arch bridge that was part of the old National Railway Shihoro Line. It can only be seen up close by the public during winter, by walking across the frozen surface of Lake Nukabira (this activity changes to an observation tour from the lake shore in late February).
After the snowshoe tour, you’ll take a break at Mitsumata Sanso, a secluded log cabin with a relaxing atmosphere.
You can enjoy a hearty and delicious lunch made with local ingredients. Choose from Hatake-no-Lunch (sausages and potatoes) or Bokujo-no-Beef Rice (rice bowl with beef patty).
At Nakamuraya, you can rejuvenate yourself with a warm bath in the hot springs.
You can also relax in front of a “hibachi” fire bowl in the lounge, or experience making various handicrafts.
