Tokachi Food and Nature Tour with a Local Photographer
This 3D2N tour takes you to the towns of Honbetsu and Ashoro in northeastern Tokachi, where you can experience breathtaking nature and delicious food while interacting with the locals. Some of the highlights include a sushi-making activity, a snowshoe trek to a mystical frozen lake, and a visit to a scenic pasture where Wagyu beef cattle roam freely. You will also be accompanied by a local photographer who will capture your best moments in high-quality photos.
You begin the tour with a stop at KOYA.lab Ryounso, where you will be staying for the next two days. After checking in, you can enjoy the winter outdoors with a snow bonfire and an ice candle making activity. Ice candles add a warm, romantic atmosphere to any cold winter night.
You will then go to the neighboring Honbetsu Town to visit a sushi restaurant called Genzushi, a favorite of the locals. Here you will try your hand at making sushi under the guidance of a master sushi chef.
After the sushi-making activity, you can savor a special sushi dinner course prepared by the master sushi chef himself. Taste the difference between your own handiwork and that of a master. If you wish, you can also try some excellent Japanese sake that pair well with sushi.
On the second day, you will go on a snowshoe trek to the mystical lake called Onneto. Walk through a snow-covered forest trail before arriving at the frozen surface of the lake, where you can warm yourself up with some hot coffee while admiring the surrounding winter scenery. A drone will also capture footage of your trek so you can relive the experience.
After the long snowshoe trek, you will visit a small but charming cafe in Ashoro Town. Here you can enjoy a specially-prepared lunch that features venison stew made from local deer meat. After lunch, you can have more fun in the snow with some sledding or snow tubing at the slopes beside the cafe.
As darkness falls after you get back to KOYA.lab Ryounso, you can light up the ice candles you made the day before. For dinner, you will visit a popular local restaurant in Ashoro Town to savor some local cuisine.
On the last day of the tour, you will visit Kaneko Farm to meet the Ashoro Unkai Wagyu cattle grazing leisurely in the snow-covered pastures. You can also enjoy a coffee break from the top of a hill that offers a great view of the surrounding landscape.
Wrap up the tour with a visit to Hataraku Monozukuri-mura, a newly-built community space in Ashoro Town. Here you can enjoy a special lunch that includes Ashoro Unkai Wagyu beef for the main dish.
