Lake Onneto Snow Trekking and Snow Play
Situated in the Akan-Mashu National Park, Lake Onneto is a picturesque lake known for its magnificent views of the twin peaks of Mt. Meakandake and Mt. Akanfuji. In winter, the lake surface freezes and gets covered in snow, and the access road to the lake becomes closed to vehicles. In this tour, you will go on a snowshoe trek to Lake Onneto, then visit a local cafe to enjoy a warm lunch.
After meeting up at Nonaka Onsen, you will put on your snowshoes and walk for around two kilometers across a snow-covered forest trail.
Eventually, you will reach the frozen Lake Onneto. In winter, it becomes a vast expanse of snow shrouded in silence. Here you can enjoy a warm, relaxing coffee break with locally-roasted coffee, all while admiring the winter scenery and listening to the whispers of the surrounding nature.
After the long and tiring snowshoe trek, you will visit a small but charming cafe in Ashoro Town, where you can enjoy a special lunch made with local ingredients.
After lunch, it’s time for more fun in the snow! At the snow-covered field beside the cafe, you can slide down the gentle slopes with a snow tube or sled.
