TOUR PROGRAMS

Lake Shikaribetsu Canoeing and Nature Trekking

At an elevation of 810 meters, Lake Shikaribetsu is the highest lake in Hokkaido, and is a place of primeval nature. In this tour program, you will go on a Canadian canoe ride across the tranquil lake, then go on a trek through the forest on the lakeshore together with a nature guide. After enjoying the nature activities, you will visit a cafe to enjoy a lunch made with local ingredients.

First, you will first go on a Canadian canoe tour of the lake. The friendly guides of the Lake Shikaribetsu Nature Center will teach you how to paddle, so even beginners can enjoy it easily. You can see rare views of the surrounding nature from the middle of the lake.

After the canoe experience, you will take a hike together with a nature guide into the virgin forest spreading on the shores of Lake Shikaribetsu. You can learn about its rich nature while experiencing it with all your senses.

The forest teems with various flora and fauna. You can see the seasonal wild flowers and mushrooms, and listen to the sounds of wild birds and mammals.

After enjoying the refreshing nature activities, you will visit a local café to re-energize yourself with a sumptuous lunch prepared with local Tokachi ingredients.
