Tokachi Organic Farms and Glamping Premium Tour
While the agricultural kingdom of Tokachi is known for its large-scale mechanized farming, it is also home to many farmers who practice organic farming (cultivation without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides). In this 2D1N glamping tour, you will visit an organic vineyard, an organic crop farm, and an organic berry orchard to learn about their farming practices and try out their products. You can also enjoy a special organic dinner and a handicraft activity that makes use of upcycled vegetables.
Highlights
- Visit an organic vineyard and sample their natural wines
You start the first day with a visit to Aizawa Nouen, an organic vineyard in Obihiro City that grows grapes naturally without any fertilizer or agrochemicals. You will also get to visit their winery and taste some of their fine natural wines. Grape juice is also available.
You will then visit Sawayama Farm, an organic crop farm in Shimizu Town. Here you will try out some of the farm work they do (the activity depends on the timing of your visit), then make onigiri rice balls using the farm’s own rice and beans. You can enjoy the onigiri together with other organic vegetables for lunch.
End the first day with a stay at Tokach Wakka-no-Mori, a glamping facility in Shimizu Town. Enjoy a comfortable stay in a fully-equipped glamping tent surrounded by great nature. For dinner, you can savor an organic meal prepared by famous culinary specialist Kanako Sasaki using local organic vegetables.
Start off the second day with a paper craft workshop that makes use of waste vegetables. The workshop will be led by Tomomi Mitsuyama, a graphic designer who also makes paper products from upcycled vegetables using a traditional Japanese method called “kamisuki”. You can try making postcards, nametags, or other paper crafts.
After the workshop, you can re-energize yourself with an organic lunch. Later on, you will visit Tokiiro Farm, an organic orchard that grows raspberries, haskap, and other berries without the use of agrochemicals. You can try harvesting the berries and enjoying them as a refreshing smoothie.
