Yamagishi Farm Dairy Farm Experience and Milk Hot Pot Dinner

Experience everyday life in a real family-run dairy farm. Feed the calves with milk and help with other farm chores, then try making snacks and a hot pot dinner made with the farm’s own milk. It’s an authentic and immersive experience that lets you savor the richness of Tokachi milk.

This tour takes place in Yamagishi Farm, a dairy farm in Shihoro Town in central Tokachi. This family farm has been operating for four generations. Besides making their own dairy products, they also run a cafe restaurant and a farm inn.

After taking a tour of the dairy farm, you will help them out with one of their most important daily tasks: feeding the calves with milk. You will be amazed at the cute calves and their seemingly unquenchable thirst for milk. After the calf feeding, you will visit the farm’s cafe and sample their own yoghurt while listening to a special storyboard about how they produce and process their milk.

Now it’s time to prepare dinner. You will help cook a nabe hot pot made with local Tokachi vegetables and the farm’s own fresh milk. You can also try making snacks like imo-dango (potato dumplings) and milk candy.

Time will seem to fly as you become a member of the Yamagishi family for a day and experience their daily life in a dairy farm.
